And Speaking of Asher...

He goes and drops the "nappy headed hoes" thing on Twitter. I'm just saying.

  1. Need to see the context of how he used it, i doubt he's stupid enuff to actually be referring to any ethnic women

  2. I can't stand that dude; I think his record is eh (rapping gets a little boring, hate his voice, beats are aight). but i think he was just making a misguided joke. like if someone went to isiah thomas's house and made a suicide joke on twitter. not excusing it; bad judgment. and not funny at all. but i don't think he's some horrible person. just shows that he is what his music might make you think he is: some millennial who thinks that his beer drinking, and his search for definition are truly special. when, in fact, he's just someone else with a lame sense of humor.

  3. This story caught fire fast. I think this will be his last trip to Rutgers.

  4. Poor attempt at causing controversy, will Hip Hop bite or will he get a free pass?

  5. He put that up after he was at Rutgers. It's prob some inside joke

  6. hahaha...love how there are a couple dummies on here talking about "context"...this guy could probably throw on them Klan sheets and dudes would be like, "he was probably just going to a costume party." Please. Shout out to all the suckas that copped the album. Hip Hop is dead, of course this dude will get a pass. No controversy at all.

  7. Wow!!! Tremendous insight, Moses!!!

His Twitter post is very obviously in the same realm as wearing KKK duds. Brilliant, sir.

On another note, the album was mediocre.

  8. lol, y'all need to calm the fuck down. it was just a misguided joke with no malicious intent. If y'all are concerned about black females being disrespected then you don't have to look further. start from your favorite rapper's biggest hit. I mean, Jamie just called that chick a "white bitch" and nobody said shit. now if that was a white dude....damn. just sayin. by the way I'm black. and Moses, you need to sit the fuck down.

  9. It kills me that Asher Roth can drop a mixtape and have his album drop in 10 months when no one else can. It kills me that he can get a gang of co-signs and testimonials to his drive and talent. It kills me that his video is everywhere and his team is pushing him like crazy. It kills me that Steve Rifkind said his album was a classic when it clearly wasn't.

It REALLY kills me that he's gonna get a pass for THIS shit and other artists that are far more talented or have been in the game longer wouldn't be afforded any of these exact same luxuries that have been lavished on Asher Roth.

Give Wale this push. Give Drake this promotion. Give Bobby Ray this same effort...see what happens.

    One.

  10. whattup Jack, wasn't gonna comment already because the same internet street team aka "anonymous" aka the LABEL are scouring the web via google and REAFFIRMING on any and ALL blogsites that this is "a joke" "shouldn't be taken serious" and YOU are stupid for not knowing that he was kidding, even tho he first rickrossed it(denied it) and said he was hacked, Apologized to his manager(scooter) before apologizing to the "nappy headed hoes" and those offended, deleted it and so forth before DAMAGE CONTROL kicked in.

I will be surprised if there is a backlash because let's be honest he's only offending black folks LOL!! It isn't like he's talking about white women or anything or his core audience therefore I wouldn't expect this thing to have legs. Plus I'm sure they've got a few of the token negroes they've already paid to come forward and give testimony on how unracist he is and how they've known him all his life.

Truth is he was drunk, high, on dust,e, acid or whatever and thought in whatever mindstate he was in about his idols like Don Imus......Then he gets the bright idea to tweet. People have already been warned about twitting while intoxicated......but he must have been too far gone before he could really ketch it, then his manager calls and says "are you stupid trying to fuck up what I worked so hard to build here, I've got a lot of these niggerz giving you props that I've paid for" and so he recanted.

I now sit back and await the wrath I will incur from the internet street team and their not so subliminal insults as they attack me and label me as the hater,"say I'm a racist", how dumb I am, or that "black guys talk like that all the time."

  11. oh and white guys, that "by the way I'm black" is a dead giveaway. It's the same as saying. I'm not racist because I have "black friends". Next blog try something new, because we aren't dumb and a lot of people on different blogs are seeing thru your DAMAGE CONTROL efforts.

  12. Thank you, Dart, for expressing what I felt in a much more eloquent way than I could at the time. This douche took what was obviously an inflammatory phrase that is familiar to everyone that is not living under a rock, casually tossed it off, and now will have all kinds of ignorant people defending his actions anyway. I don't care what sort of "explanation," if any, that his camp comes up with. Even if I was a fan (and I freely admit that I am not) there is no way that I could suport him now.

  13. Oh, and by the way, the point of the Klan costume analogy, which Mr. "Anonymous" seems to have missed, is that "nappy headed hoes" is an obviously inflammatory and outrageous phrase and a reasonably intelligent person should expect that when Asher chose to use it, people would get angry. By the way, what kind of "explanation" is everyone waiting for that would make this kind of thing okay? Give me an example, Mr. "Anonymous," since you are so "smart."

  14. It doesn't need an explanation...that's the point, moses. The guy apologized if anyone was offended, as did Jamie Foxx. But...if an explanation is needed, I think people just trying to make a joke is fair enough. If people had tried to make Jamie's comments into a racial issue, I would have called bullshit immediately!!! Now onto the Asher thing...

You REALLY think this was a racist comment this kid made on Twitter? Really? This shit is being blown out of proportion and being used as a vehicle for people who want to shit on this guy Asher Roth...and/or to make a larger point about race in general, which hurts the progression of humanity far more than it helps.

I thoughtfully respect the sensitivity of people on issues of race, gender, sexual orientation, etc...but I think that people are really looking to make this into something that it is not. And I am not surprised that people are mad...people are always getting mad at shit like this...but people are very agenda-based, and their anger is often misplaced. Ironically, when there are REAL racial issues going on they are often NOWHERE to be found. I don't know you personally, so I am not suggesting you are one of these people, but if you are...then this means you.

Oh, and I got the point of the analogy. I just think it was a weak point. That's my opinion.

And no I don't work for this dude's record label, but if I did, I would have tried to make sure the album was better, cause it isn't that great.

    PEACE.

  15. Asher Roth is effing, mind-numbingly, wack even if Diplo supports his generally annoying presence and media circle-jerk.

I believe he really just needs to gtfo.

    Case closed.
